Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using If Only You (ifonlyyou.com), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms apply to all users worldwide.

2. Description of service

If Only You is an AI-powered historical life simulation game. Users create fictional characters, set them in historical periods, and receive AI-generated narrative content including text and images. All story content is generated by AI (Claude by Anthropic) and all scene images by AI (Flux Schnell by Black Forest Labs via Replicate). Generated content may be imperfect, inconsistent, or unexpected — this is inherent to AI generation.

3. Accounts and eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old to use this service.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• You may not create accounts for others without their consent.
• One person, one account. Duplicate accounts created to circumvent token limits may be terminated.

4. Tokens and payments

The service uses a token system. Tokens are consumed when generating story seasons. New accounts receive 130 free tokens upon registration (enough for one season).

Additional tokens may be purchased via Stripe. All prices are in USD. Current pricing:

• 200 tokens — $2.00 (2 seasons)
• 550 tokens — $5.00 (5+ seasons, 10% bonus)
• 1,200 tokens — $10.00 (10+ seasons, 20% bonus)

Tokens are a consumable service credit, not a currency. All token purchases are final and non-refundable. Tokens have no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts.

5. Data retention

Your account and all game data is stored for 2 years from registration. You will receive an in-app warning 365 days before your data expires. You may extend data retention for one additional year for $5.00. After expiry, your account and all associated data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. We are not liable for loss of data due to expiry.

6. User content and conduct

You retain ownership of any original content you submit (character descriptions, story events, diary entries). By submitting content, you grant us a limited license to process it through AI models to generate story content and images on your behalf.

You agree not to:

• Submit content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others.
• Use the service to generate content that sexualises minors.
• Attempt to circumvent API rate limits, token costs, or authentication.
• Scrape, crawl, or automate requests to the service.
• Redistribute or sell AI-generated content from this service commercially.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer or extract the underlying AI models or prompts.

7. AI-generated content disclaimer

Story text and images are generated by AI and may contain inaccuracies, hallucinations, or content you find unexpected. Generated content does not represent the views of If Only You. We do not guarantee the historical accuracy of AI-generated story events. AI-generated images may occasionally render unexpected visual artifacts. We are not responsible for the specific content generated in response to your inputs.

8. Service availability

We provide this service on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uptime or availability. The service depends on third-party AI APIs (Anthropic, Replicate) and infrastructure (Vercel, Neon) which may experience outages outside our control. We are not liable for service interruptions or data loss caused by third-party providers.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without refund of unused tokens. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us — all your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, If Only You is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Changes to terms

We may update these terms at any time. We will post the updated terms with a revised date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
