Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

If Only You (ifonlyyou.com) is an AI-powered historical life simulation game. For questions about this policy, contact us at jiezheng1117@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

• Account information: email address and password (stored as a bcrypt hash — we never see your plaintext password).
• Game data: character descriptions, story events, relationship data, and choices you make during gameplay. This data is stored to allow you to continue your stories across sessions.
• AI-generated images: character portraits and dialogue scene images generated by Replicate (Flux Schnell model) based on character descriptions you provide.
• Diary entries: if you use the in-game diary feature, your entries are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage. We cannot read them.
• Payment information: we do not store card details. All payment processing is handled by Stripe. We store only your Stripe customer ID and token transaction history.
• Usage data: standard server logs (IP address, request timestamps, error logs) retained for up to 30 days for operational purposes.

3. How we use your information

• To provide and operate the game service.
• To process payments and manage your token balance.
• To generate AI story content and images using your character descriptions as prompts.
• To send you transactional communications (e.g. if we need to notify you about your account).
• We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Data storage and retention

Your account data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon (AWS infrastructure). AI-generated images are stored in Vercel Blob (Cloudflare-backed CDN).

Data retention: your account and all associated game data is retained for 2 years from your registration date. You will receive an in-app notice 365 days before expiry. You can extend retention for one additional year for a $5 fee. You can also request deletion at any time by emailing us.

5. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

• Stripe — payment processing. Your payment information is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic — AI story generation (Claude models). Character descriptions and story events are sent to Anthropic's API to generate narrative content.
• Replicate — AI image generation (Flux Schnell model). Character descriptions are sent to Replicate's API to generate anime-style images.
• Vercel — hosting and image storage (Vercel Blob).
• Neon — PostgreSQL database hosting.

6. Cookies

We use only a single session cookie (a JWT token issued by NextAuth) to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies. Your language preference is stored in a browser cookie (NEXT_LOCALE).

7. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting jiezheng1117@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days. Deletion requests result in permanent removal of your account and all associated game data.

8. Children

This service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us for immediate removal.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
